Sketches: The Art of Slowing Down
Share
There’s a reason I reach for a pen when I want to feel grounded.
Sketching, for me, is a return — to simplicity, to presence, to the natural world that holds us even when we forget how to hold ourselves.
The Sketches Collection was born out of that return. It's a series of hand-drawn pieces created with pen and marker, focused on animals, sea life, wave energy and the people moved by it, and natural moments that often go unseen. These aren’t polished or overly controlled — they’re instinctive, full of life, essential, and above all, authentic.
Drawing From Nature, Drawing Toward Wellness
We live in a world that moves fast. But nature doesn’t. A sloth resting in the trees. A baby turtle crawling toward the ocean. A jaguar moving through shadowed jungle. A surfer captured aligned with chaos or those lineal moments leading to it. Each of these moments is a meditation in motion, and when I sketch them, I feel my energy, vibration, and nervous system slow dow and connect with the scene I’ve observed in photos or first hand.
That’s what I want this collection to offer: a reminder to pause. To reconnect. Because our health is deeply tied to how connected we feel — to ourselves, to each other, and to the Earth.
These sketches are more than art. They’re a gentle wake-up call to always spiral to and remember what matters.
Minimal Lines, Maximum Feeling
I purposely keep these illustrations raw — just pen, marker, and heart. The simplicity lets the subject shine. You’ll see every texture, every expression, every movement with nothing in the way.
This stripped-down style also speaks to something deeper: we don’t need more noise. We need clarity. We need stillness. We need beauty that breathes.
Many collectors have told me these sketches bring a sense of peace to their space — whether it’s a child’s room, a home office, or a yoga nook. That’s not by chance. These pieces are made with that exact intention.
Choose a Piece That Speaks to You
The Sketches Collection is available in 10x8 and 14x11 fine art prints, made with museum-grade archival paper. The detail and texture of each original is preserved with care.
From the turtle’s brave journey to the ocean to the graceful but powerful cutback of a surfer on a wave, there’s something here for everyone — especially for those who feel a deep connection to animals, earth, the oceans, and emotional storytelling.
And if you have a specific creature, scene, or story in mind, I’d love to collaborate. I offer custom sketch commissions and welcome the chance to create something unique and meaningful just for you.
Art That Brings Us Back to Center
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, scattered, or overstimulated — you’re not alone. But nature always reminds us: healing doesn’t have to be loud. It just has to be real.
That’s the energy I try to capture in every sketch. Quiet. True. Alive.
Thank you for bringing that energy into your world through my work.
